Breastfeeding is the most nutritious option for feeding your baby. The program offers breastfeeding information and provides peer helpers to assist new moms. Breastfeeding education and support is an essential service and a national heath strategy to protect women, infants and children from adverse health outcomes and helps reduce health care costs. Community Action WIC promotes breastfeeding as the optimal way to feed infants for at least the first year of life.
The professional staff at Community Action WIC consists of breastfeeding peer helpers, board certified lactation consultants and certified lactation counselors who are available to provide supportive services to breastfeeding families in Ashtabula County.
