Helping good parents be great!

Community Action Home Visiting Program

When you are expecting your first child you may have many questions. Community Action's Home Visiting services provide education and support families to increase prenatal care for improved childbirth outcomes, promote positive parent-child interactions, ensure healthy child development, reduce child maltreatment, increase access to healthcare services and promote family self-sufficiency.

The Community Action Home Visiting Program eligibility includes expectant mothers and families with the birth of their first child up to age 3.  The knowledgeable, caring staff will help to answer your questions and provide resources in the comfort of your own home, at the library, or wherever you would like to meet. The program is free to income eligible households.

The Community Action Home Visitors are friendly, trained, and experienced professionals who can answer questions about pregnancy, parenting, and child development. They can provide the following Prenatal information:

  • Month-to-month prenatal development on your baby's progress and changes your body experiences
  • How to care for your growing baby and tips on healthy eating habits
  • What pregnant moms can expect from labor and delivery
  • Tips for dads-to-be to help prepare for birth and fatherhood

The Community Action Home Visiting Program is proud to partner with Project MKC, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located in Youngstown, dedicated to serving the most vulnerable children in Northeast Ohio. Their mission is to make the lives of children and their families a little brighter by focusing on their individual needs with the help of volunteers. Their programs provide daily essentials and positive emotional experiences to children and their families by boosting confidence and lifting spirits. Through our partnership, we receive things such as diapers, wipes, and toiletry items to distribute to families enrolled in our home visiting program. Project MKC is funded exclusively by donations, and 100% of donations go directly to their programming.
